Not many can claim a stake in the sport of offshore racing. Kurt's Marine Competition Center Inc. is one of the few who has made its mark and continues to
be a formidable presence in the sport. Twenty years ago offshore racing was a sport unrecognized for its action and excitement. Boats would roar offshore 200 miles doing
battle against the elements then, hours later, limp back to port licking their wounds. Few really understood what this was like or just what it was that drew racers to the
sport. Kurt's Marine formed a marine service center catering to high performance boats. This enabled enthusiasts to become familiar with performance boats and and led many to
eventually participate in offshore racing. Kurt's Marine and a long list of its customers began to make their presence known in offshore racing with recognizable names such as
"Bounty Hunter", "Crazy Greek", "Jolly Roger", and its own "Smokey and the Bandit".
As the business grew, the checkered flags began to fly. And then, in 1985, Kurt's Marine's own ever popular "Smokey and the Bandit" won the coveted Key West
World Championship Powerboat race. Back then this was a grueling 200 mile 3 race event. That milestone was a major turning point for Kurt's Marine and its now world famous
Bandit Racing Engines.
A complete line of engines are built at Kurt's Marine for race or pleasure-- from "Mild to Wild". It also marked an era where year after year the
championships would roll in. Customers from all walks of life, various budgets, and from every race fraternity in the world were upholding the soon to be company motto
"We Build Champions".
Not only did Kurt's Marine customers win Divisional, National, North American and World Championships, they claimed many speed records, special awards and even
"Hall of Champions" inductions.
Kurt's Marine Competition Center Inc. also opened it's doors to many international customers as well. Racers from, England, France, Italy, Sweden, and Japan
took advantage of the full service facility and race preparation offered by Kurt's Marine. This and hundreds of accomplishments throughout the years have truly labeled
Kurt's Marine Competition Center a "World Class performance Center".
Even as the economy dwindled, the technology kept advancing and Kurt's Marine stayed at the top of its game. With a challenge set forth, Bandit Racing
Engines answered the call with the first 900 plus HP open class engine. Utilizing an OEM contract with General Motors, Bandit Racing Engines developed
the Oldsmobile DRCE into a world class powerboat engine. The word was out that at Kurt's Marine Competition Center Inc. "The Doctor was in". Thus began the
revitalization of the Dr. Oldsmobile character of yesteryear.

When it comes to horsepower and reliability, the "Doctor" is in complete control at Kurt's Marine. The engines are so good that a low compression big inch
single four barrel version also pushes the 1000 HP mark. With these extraordinary results, the Bandit Racing Engine Olds has found its way into the engine
compartments of several "pleasure" performance boats. In fact, at a local radar shoot-out, Kurt's Marine Bandit Racing Engine Oldsmobile powered
pleasure boats won overwhelmingly the fastest catamaran at 129.5 MPH and the fastest V-bottom at 106 MPH. Of course, these days that's just an everyday cruise
down the bay. With new hull technology emerging, Bandit Racing answered the call. With the better hulls the cry for big power was in demand. Now that horsepower
approaching the 1000 HP mark was in every manufacturer's latest and greatest boat, Bandit Racing Engines capability of 1000 ponies naturally caught
the attention of many. Their newest pleasure boater boasting a pair of Bandit 1000 HP carbureted engines made a blast across the bay at 143.8 MPH. With a pair
of soon to be released Bandit 1400 HP blower motors, record books and neighbor's windows will be shattered!
Performance boaters and poker run enthusiasts can now enjoy the thrill and exhilaration of offshore powerboating at it's fullest with the ease of shopping their
local neighborhood store.
